Communication Technology Timeline

Communication is a very important part of our life, especially now that we have different types of technology around us. Have you ever wondered how human communication technology has evolved over time? Well, I did this video on Screenr that I talk about the different types of human communication that has been invented over time. I think it is amazing how we started to communicate and now how technology has change human communication. I don't know what the future holds, but I know that technology is growing every day; hopefully in the future we can see a lot more and help the world be a better place to live.

Technical Terms

Have you ever came across a technical word on the internet or on a newspaper and did not have any idea what the word meant. Book Report "Twitter for Good: Change the World One Tweet at a Time."

  Now that we have many different social media to share our thoughts, we have more to give. The book that I read which is called Twitter for Good: Change the World One Tweet at a Time, in the last couple of weeks really taught me how the social media Twitter works. I found this book through a website called Safari Tech Books online; this book is great for non-profit organization who would like to learn how to make a difference. Before I started to read the book I had a little of experience using Twitter and really did not know how Twitter could actually be used for world innovation. When I first started to read the book it was clear what the author is all about. The author leads social innovation and philanthropy at Twitter, so I thought this is going to be an interesting book to read.  The author has come up with a framework that teaches users how to use Twitter to reach more people. This framework is simple and easy to remember because it uses the acronym Tweet which stands for target, write, engage, explore, and track.  For each chapter you get to learn how each piece of framework works and how you can apply it to your organization. For the first chapter you find out which types of targets you want for your Twitter account.

The author points out three different targets your organization should focus. One is information account, which is to seek a particular topic that you would like to reach. The next account is a personal account, which you create for your organization to use on Twitter. The last account would be a fundraising account for those who would use Twitter to use for funding and support. Next you’ll learn about what you are going to write about.

In this book there are many examples of organizations who write about their goals and how they have accomplished them. For example, there is a charity founder called Scott Harrison who founded Charity: Water, he took a trip to Liberia and found out about the different diseases that where cause by contaminated water and sanitation. When he raised nine-hundred and sixty five thousand dollars for clean water, he saw the need of those people, so he decided to join Twitter to spread the word.  Now Charity: Water has raised more than fifteen million dollars and is now providing clean drinking water to more than a million people. This is amazing how someone who is using the social media can make a difference, but it takes a lot of work. In the next chapter you will learn about the framework to engage, you get to learn what you should engage in and the tools you need to do this. Then you will learn what to explore for, for example, one of the most important things is to find new endorsement for your organization that would take you to the next level. Finally you get to learn about tracking and seeing the progress you are making with your organization.  

 

Overall this book has some good resources that you can use for your organization. One of the biggest strengths that this book has is that it provides many examples from different organization and easy-to-use guide. You get to read different stories about how some people began their organization and how Twitter has helped them reach their goals. I would say that one of the weaknesses that this book has is that this is not for beginners who are just learning the basic of Twitter. This book is mostly for people who are serious about opening an organization and using Twitter to help them grow.

My drawings

I have always been fascinated with art ever since I was a kid. I would look at my favorite cartoon characters and would try to find a way to draw them. One of the people that helped me with my drawings when I was a kid was my grandfather. He would sit with me and teach me how to draw basic animal figures like dogs, ducks, cats, and horses. Now I have many drawings that I made over the past years. Even though I don't draw as often as I used to I like to look at my old drawings and just remember the old days. Anime

You might have heard it before or seen it on TV, but if you haven't, than let me share with you what anime is. Anime is Japanese animation which are hand-drawn or computer animated that was only intended for the Japanese viewers, but that all changed. Anime has now become known international and is being translated into many languages. You can now watch anime online and see why it is so unlike the cartoons that we see in America. It's different and unique because of the way they express the concepts of ideas with all the types of anime that they're sharing with the viewers. You might of seen or heard of "Naruto", "Dragonball Z', "FullMetal Alchemist", and maybe even "Sailor Moon", which are well known anime series. Anime is aimed at about every age group so anyone can watch anime. Learn to program

Do you know what famous people like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jack Dorsey got in common, they all know how to program. Computer program is a sequence of instructions written to perform a specified task with a computer. These people invented the most unique programs that changed computers and the way we communicate on the web. I think that if more people knew how to program it would be better for all of us because programing teach use how to reason and it teach use how to be imaginative. If you have not yet learn how to program and would like to learn then let me share with you a link where you can learn for free and don't need to download any type of software. Apps that are useful to use

Now that technology has become so evolve in the world, it makes life much easier, especially when you can add special application to your phone or computer. What I like about using apps is that you can use it in many different ways. What I want to share is some of the apps that I think are pretty cool to have and useful to use. One of the useful tools to use is a utility called "Free Translator", which is a free Google translator for many languages. I think this is a useful utility especially if you go and visit a foreign country. Another app that you can use is called "Dropbox", which is an app that lets you sync and share your files online; you can share photos, videos, and docs. One of my favorite apps is "Google Map", which you can search for places and cities around the world. It includes roads, borders, places, and many more. If you love to eat and explore different types of food then try "Happy Hours" this app shows you all the foods and drinks near you. You can see photos of bars or restaurant, and details such as the menu, location, and reviews about what other people think about the place. Now if you like to play games then one of the best known game to have is "Angry Birds" if you heard about this game app then you know what I am talking about, but if you haven't, then let me tell you that this game is a lot of fun. The objective of this game is to use a slingshot to fire the birds at the buildings and structures built by evil pigs. Hopefully that these apps that I mention are useful to you and maybe you can share some cool apps too.

A visit to an art museum.

Going to an art museum can be an exciting thing to do.  Depending on how you look at things, it might be a good idea to be an open minded person. I think you should not go into a art museum and expect everything that you see to be something you like or see everything there. Museums are full of art and information, sometimes people think that before going into a art museum they need to know about art history, but that should not be the case. I think that if you can pick out a museum that has some interesting art that you would be interested in, then you would be able to have an exciting experience. Every first Friday in Las Vegas there is an event for everyone who would like to go out and explore art, music, and entertainment. This event would be a great opportunity to go out and visit an art museum.

Art is my way to express myself.

The reason that I am writing this is to show my art work and to express myself to other people who are also passionate about art and hopefully they can share their thoughts. When I was a kid I had a difficult time expressing myself to people, so the only way to do that was through my art. I can remember one time in my art class when I was in elementary school, I drew some dinosaurs and a big island, it was so cool that one of my substitute teacher actually wanted to take my drawing home, I was so surprise that I knew I was good at something.
